PRODUCTS
One stop shop, Everything you need for sealing and bonding windows, façades, interiors and exteriors.
At Ecowin, we look for the best products to use for the installation of all the products we supply. When installing a low energy or PassivHaus (Passive House), it is important the the installation detail is the best that it can be and the airtightness around the window and the building is airtight.
That’s why we use Illbruck products. One of the products we use is Illbruck membrane ME500 W 110/140. It is supplied in rolls at 50 metre lengths, when calculating the overall amount required, you will end up with more than what is need as shown in the example below. This is good, as at each corner the membrane is folded, so that the applicaiton and the airtightness is the best that it can be. To calculate the linear meterage, you add the length at the bottom, length at the top, plus both sides. This will give you the total linear meterage of each item.
For example:
1 lift & slide door 4000mm width, 2100mm height (4000+2100 x 2) = 12.2 linear metres
10 windows 1230mm width, 1480mm height (1230+1480 x 2 = 5420 x 10) = 54.2 linear metres.
Total linear metres 12.2 + 54.2 = 66.4 linear metres.You will require 2 x ME500 W rolls
It’s important that at point of installation, we have something for the ME500 w to adhere to.
It is recommend that with the use of the ME500 W, using a primer to assist with the adhesion is used. The recommended adhesive is Illbruck SP525 & primer Illbruck ME902. All of these products are offered with our packagess for low energy or PassivHaus installations as an option. When using the SP525, it is important to note, that this comes in what is referred to a sausage and requires the use of a sausage gun applicator.
We recommend using the Illbruck AA956 Sausage Gun Pro Combi – with excellent combination of thrust and ratio. It is designed to be used with 310 – 400 ml cartridges and 400 – 600 ml sausages

Ecowin offer compriband with all our low energy / PassivHaus installation as an option, we have several different options available from Illbruck, which boils down to the detail of the installation. Ilbruck offer a fantastic product called TP600 and this is available in different widths and expansions.
The product we use more often than not, is Illbruck TP600 illbruck TP600 15/7-12 – this means it is 15mm in width and expands from 7mm to 12mm. This is ideal for us, as out fitting tolerances are 10mm to 12mm but usually 10mm.
The compriband generally supplied in 4.3 lengths, so again we would calculate the linear meterage required.
For example:
1 lift & slide door 4000mm width, 2100mm height (4000+2100 x 2) = 12.2 linear metres
10 windows 1230mm width, 1480mm height (1230+1480 x 2 = 5420 x 10) = 54.2 linear metres.
Total linear metres 12.2 + 54.2 = 66.4 linear metres. How man rolls required? 66.4 divided by 4.3 = 15.44. So we round this up to 16 rolls being required with 2 extra rolls (17 in total), as like the ME500 the corners are pinched to allow for the best installation and may require extra – better to have more than it is to have to little.
This is another product we use for our installations and again is sourced from and supplied by Illbruck, This product is called FM330 Pro Foam Air Seal. It is supplied as single cansisters or a box of 12. The total linear meterage does come into play here as to how many canisters are going to be required. The rule of thumb we use, is every 150 linear metres, a new box is required.
FM330 is a fanatstic product which is a one part, rapid, moisture-curing expanding polyurethane foam with excellentt elasticity, air tightness and acoustic properties. Excellent adhesion to brick, block, stone, plaster and cementitious materials as well as wood, metal and a variety of plastics. The low post-expansion facilitates greater control during application.
