FFL – Floor Levels and Thresholds
An important step and often overlooked, ideally these need to be planned early on in the projects design stages, to allow for the relevant requirements below the FFL (finished floor level).
An example of this is a Cero III sliding door has a frame that is 79mm in height, this is usually designed and planned to be level with your finished floor. What your finished floor is going to be might not be determined, but as an example, lets assume the following.
13mm tile, 3mm bedding, on top of a 50mm screed would be that due to the Cero III requirements of 79mm frame, 40mm purenit to allow a level based and 10mm height adjustment feet, we need to be 129mm below the finished floor.
This means 16mm of finished floor, 50mm of screed, which requires 63mm of a check in the slab.
Drainage
It’s important to understand the drainage options, some sliding doors will be front drained and may have a concealed drain, or they may have bottom drainage or front drainage. How the water off run is dealt with is down to you but we recommend talking with us about utilising the drainage solutions from Richard Brink (link to the Richard Brink page)
